Hoop-La! The Season From a Mom's Perspective
Mothers of De Smet basketball players Nolan Berry and Eric Moeller will give their take on the season from a parent's perspective in an ongoing blog.

Thanksgiving has officially ushered in not only the holiday season but the basketball season as well. The NBA may be getting off to a late start, but for two moms of players on the high school team...the first tip-off couldnβt come soon enough. Β
Welcome to HOOP-LA! Β
There are lots of articles about coaches, teams and players, but this is our chance to share a little from the parentsβ perspective. For us, itβs more than the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat...itβs about the struggles and opportunities that come off the court too: the pressure, the fun, the competition, the friendships, the work (of parents and players!)...oh yeah, and how to get enough calories in teenage boys who are at least 6β8 and still growing.

Both of our boys have been playing basketball for years. They came up the ranks starting with the YMCA, playing in grade school, AAU and now for the DeSmet Spartans. Eric Moeller is a 6β10 senior and Nolan Berry a 6β8 junior. Β Both are D1 college recruits. We could write about their lucky genetics, all the years of practice and training or even their stats...but what we really want to write about is the season. Coaches, scouts and other family members sometimes see players as a product, but for a mother, itβs always about the experience. The people and events that shape our children is what matters most to us. Β
We hope youβll join us this season as we share the excitement, the drama, the games, the lessons, the fun...you know...the HOOP-LA!
