Kate White: NickMom MFF Star is a St. Louis Mom

Kate and her best friend Judi transformed their successful vlog "Lipstick and Laundry" into NickMom reality show "Mom Friends Forever".

Have you checked out NickMom late at night on Nick Jr? Notice anything familiar around 10:30pm?

That's right, Mom Friends Forever (or MFF in texter lingo) is filmed right here in St. Louis, starring Kate White and Judi Diamond. The moms live around Creve Coure and have kids in Parkway.

I got a chance to sit down with Kate White from her now famous kitchen counter and ask what it’s like to raise kids while the camera is rolling.

Kate and her best friend Judi transformed their successful vlog β€œLipstick and Laundry” into reality show β€œMom Friends Forever". The format for MFF is a show within a show. Kate and Judi now film their hit vlog for a TV audience, but when they leave Kate’s improvised kitchen studio…the camera keeps on rolling.

We get to watch Kate and Judi as they sort through the issues a lot of moms face with humor, a few tears and true friendship. MFF is refreshingly real, grounded in Midwestern sensibilities and sprinkled with St. Louis charm. There are no pampered housewives on this show. Kate and Judi are working moms who do their own hair and find their wardrobe while cruising Goodwill.

β€œAnd that’s one of the drawsβ€”we’re so different from the Beverly Hills housewives,” Kate said. β€œThey have all this money and Botox and makeup up to here. No, that’s not what this is about. The whole premise of the show is that we are middle class people.”

I asked Kate if she felt the need to change her parenting style while the cameras were on. The answer was an emphatic noβ€”and she still yells at her boys when they do something stupid, like forget their helmets when they’re out skateboarding.

β€œI don’t change for the camera,” Kate said. β€œPeople are going to like me or they’re not.”
