Masonic Lodge Opens Its Doors
Do you have an interest in learning more about Freemasonry? RSVP to attend the Polar Star - Rose Hill Lodge No 79 A.F. & A.M. open house in Creve Coeur.

You may see the square and compasses on a building or you may see a Masonic Lodge listed in the phone book or on the internet. If it is all supposed to be a secret, Freemasons are doing a rather poor job keeping it quiet.
And if you want to know a little bit more about Freemasons, Polar Star - Rose Hill Lodge No. 79 A.F & A.M. (located at 11122 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63141) is having a family dinner and open house on June 25 at 6:30pm.
Polar Star - Rose Hill is one of over 30 Masonic Lodges in the St. Louis, Missouri metro area. Polar Star - Rose Hill's officers, members and their families will host the family dinner and welcome anybody that is interested in joining or wants to know more about the Fraternity.
"This annual open house is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about Freemasonry and to meet and talk with Masons in this community," said Randy C. Davis, the current Worshipful Master of the Lodge. "Freemasonry has been in Missouri since the time of French control of the area. A lot of people may have heard of us, but may not know us. And we are more than what you may see on the History Channel."
Past Masons throughout this country's history have included such prominent men as Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, Thurgood Marshall, John Glenn and countless others.
Freemasons trace their roots to the stonemason guilds that built Europe’s cathedrals and castles during the early part of the last millennium. Freemasonry was formally organized as we now know it in London, England in 1717. The first Masonic Lodge west of the Mississippi was in the Greentree Tavern in Ste Genevieve around 1809.
Polar Star Lodge was founded in 1846 and was the lodge of the men that worked on the river and the riverfront. It's most famous member was Samuel L. Clemens, aka Mark Twain. Rose Hill lodge was founded in 1891 and was in the "country" when they built their first Temple at Maple and Hamilton. Rose Hill purchased the Creve Coeur property in 1958 and started building their new Temple the following year. The building was completed in 1961. Polar Star and Rose Hill Lodges merged in 2005 for the benefit of their members.
