Opinion: Creve Coeur Council Needs Business Experience

Council is currently composed of three attorneys, three medical professionals, a medical spokesperson and a community activist. The Council would make an almost perfect team for a medical malpractice law firm.

The city government is more closely akin to a private utility providing services to the citizens as a monopoly.

We would hope that four experienced business persons out of the twelve thousand or so registered voters would file their candidacy and provide competition for the expected candidacy of the two medical and two legal incumbents.

We understand the council person pay is poor, the hours long, and the criticism high but all of us have a responsibility to serve the community.

So, as the old British Navy recruiters use to say, "Will you stand up, take the Queen's Shilling (And that's about all it pays) and don the mark of a man!"?

This citizen believes some business experience on the Council would add to better and more balanced decision making.
