Chaminade kept the game close early, but De Smet built a nice cushion by halftime.
(3-1) took an unbeaten record into (4-1), but all left with a blemish after taking a trip across Creve Coeur Friday night.
The Red Devils stayed close early, but De Smet pulled away before halftime and ended up with the 42-24 victory.
Chaminade had the running game going early, but the Spartans put the clamps on that after a couple of drives and it proved to be the difference. The Red Devils collected a field goal late in the first quarter to pull to within five points, at 15-10, but they would trail 28-10 at the half and didnβt score again until early in the fourth quarter.

De Smetβs offense opened up their playbook more than they had done early in the season and the players responded, especially senior wide receiver Durron Neal. He broke two receptions for scores, bringing his season total up to eight, five of which have been through the air.
When a team opens up the offensive attack and goes to the air, it opens itself up to more risks as well. De Smet junior quarterback Conner Harrison was intercepted twice on Friday, the second one being a tipped ball. But the Red Devils couldnβt turn those turnovers into touchdowns.
