Everyone is welcome to attendΒ Alzheimerβs Research Update:Changing the Treatment Paradigm in Alzheimerβs Disease- The Role of Biomarkers. Local physician and expert John Morris, MD, will discuss how βbiomarkersβ (biological indicators) may indicate underlying brain changes that precede symptoms of Alzheimerβs disease. Researchers at Washington University are preparing to conduct one of the first clinical trials aimed at preventing or delaying the onset of the disease β before patients ever have symptoms β by measuring these biomarkers in individuals who are at risk for a rare, genetic form of Alzheimerβs. Success could result in a paradigm shift in the prevention and treatment of the disease.
