Ladue Schools, in cooperation with the School District of Clayton, is pleased to be able to provide volunteer tutors for students in kindergarten through third grade through the OASIS tutoring program. Designed to strengthen reading and language skills, the mentoring partnership helps children develop positive attitudes toward school and improves self-esteem. Volunteers spend one hour per week during the school day working one-on-one with a specific student.
On Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 10 a.m., an informational meeting will be held at the OASIS Suite at the Center of Clayton (50 Gay Avenue, Clayton, MO, 63105). Anyone interested is invited to come and learn about the program and ask questions. Training for the program is scheduled for September 13, 15, 20 and 22. All materials will be provided.
“This is an outstanding program from which our students benefit greatly,” states Superintendent Dr. Marsha Chappelow. “It’s mutually rewarding for both the student and the volunteer to see the progress they make together. Wonderful bonds are made this way every school year.”
