Did you grow up with parents who struggled with addiction or mental illness? Were you physically, sexually or emotionally abused?

Women who grew up in families who abused them or neglected their needs may struggle with feelings of inadequacy. Many adult women have guessed at what is considered “normal” most of their lives. They observe others behavior in order to appear ”normal”. Growing up abused or emotionally neglected may lead to feelings of shame. Shame is an avenue to depression, anxiety and a host of other painful feelings.
