The Holidays Are Time for Self-Care

This is the time of the year when anxiety and depression effect us more.

As a therapist, this is the time of the year when paying particular attention to those experiencing anxiety and depression is needed. Those who are prone to anxiety and depression throughout the year may find that holiday time increases symptoms. Of course, there are many different explanations for the spike in symptoms. However, the importance of self-care is significant in combating negative symptoms.

Being present without trying to avoid painful feelings is a first step toward self-care. Sometimes, we feel as though stuffing our feelings deep enough will stop them from effecting us. Unfortunately, this coping technique only makes things worse.
