Did you know that there are women and children living in our community who can't get help when they need it? Dreamers and undocumented immigrants that live and work throughout our community live under a shadow--one that says you can be deported at any time and for any reason.
And what is their crime? Being brought here as young children with their parents and never having been documented as US citizens through no fault of their own. These young men, women and children have never known another country other than ours, yet they can't go to college, an emergency room or access other services because they don't have papers.
NCJW believes that there must be a fair and equitable path to citizenship for these women and children. We believe that while on the path to citizenship that they should have access to health and human services. We believe that families should not be separated.
This country was founded by immigrants and we should work with those who want to stay and build a productive life-not against them.
