John Burroughs Ruins Whitfield Baseball Party in Creve Coeur
The Bombers win 15-5 Saturday in first game at the newly renovated Ullman Field.
The official dedication of the newly renovated baseball facility at was held shortly after noon Saturday.
Just moments later, John Burroughs junior Nate Adams proved that Ullman Field could be a hitter's park as he hit a home run in the first at-bat of the game. Ironically, it came against Warrior pitcher Trevor Ullman.
The Bombers then proceeded to spoil the party as they scored early and often in a 15-5 victory.

It was the first high school home run by Adams, a left-handed hitter who hit a line drive over the right center field fence.
"That's the first one I have ever hit so I didn't know how it was supposed to feel but I knew it felt great off the bat," Adams said.

Adams would go on to reach base four times, score four runs and steal three bases.
"That was a well-timed hit by Nate when he parked that ball in right field," John Burroughs coach Andy Katzman said of the lead-off home run. "Nate has major league speed and a Division I glove but that was his first homer as a Bomber. That set the tone for the game.
"We came out and really hit the ball today. We had production from the top to the bottom of the order."
Some of that production came from a pair of talented freshman. Alex Jassek, who had pitched a complete game shutout Friday against Lutheran South, had three hits, a run scored and an RBI while Jake Wood had a pair of doubles, three RBI and some nice defensive plays at third base.
"Alex pitched one of our finer games that we have had in a while against Lutheran South," Katzman said. "He and Jake are also offensive weapons with bright futures."
The Bombers never trailed after scoring twice in the first inning. But Whitfield was able to stay close for three innings. Alex Brown and Johnny Acker had RBI singles in the third inning and the Warriors trailed 3-2.
But John Burroughs scored three times in the fourth inning, two coming on a home run by Spencer Beyersdorfer, and than put the game away with six runs in the fifth inning. Wood and Davey Holmes each had bases-loaded doubles in the inning.
"We are taking a big step in our program and this new field creates a much better practice experience for our players," Whitfield coach Mike Pomatto said. "For me as a coach it's just like being a classroom teacher and having all the tools you need to create a great lesson.
"We are a better team than we showed today but this is only our second game of the season. We have some young kids in key spots who need to figure some things out. We just need more games."
Whitfield fell to 1-1 while John Burroughs improved to 4-1 on the young season.
