Pigs & Chickens Are On The Creve Coeur City Council Menu
The city has received requests from residents to keep them as pets.

The city of is being asked to wade into the debate over allowing pigs and chickens in residential areas after requests from residents.
Monday night, city council members will discuss a staff report outlining what it means for city ordinances. City codes currently do not allow chickens--they were barred in an October 2009 revision. Hogs of all kinds have also been banned.

The staff report identified Ferguson and Kirkwood as allowing for pot-bellied pigs, but said Kirkwood faced difficulty with one resident who had a pig which ultimately grew to be 100 pounds and was the cause of a neighbor's complaint.

There is also the question of where the city should draw a line when it comes to allowing pets currently not allowed by municipal code.
