Reviewing The Week In Comments

What you're talking about on Patch sites throughout the St. Louis area.

We don’t know about you, but we love to talk. We think you do too, based on the comments we see growing in Patchland. We thought you’d enjoy a selection of highlights from some of the comments you posted on our sites last week. Join in and respond if something catches your eye.

Β "I worked there for a year in the plant in college. Ron was fair but wated you to work hard. My dad worked there for @ 30 years and retired a few years back from there. I remember when they moved into the new plant off Dielman Ind Ct from Westgate and was always excited when I got to go in and see the other workers. Ron was good to our family and I wish him and Elaine the best. I will miss their Homatash, Bagels and rye bread."

β€œJust thinkin'. If schools all went to iPads, what would they do when the electricity goes out? Of course everyone would be home anyway if an ice storm was predicted. I guess one could still check their FB on their cell phones until there is a major area wide outage.”

β€œI support the original design proposed by the architects. I am not interested in any changes. I love the design and I'm really excited about it. The board hired professionals who are experts in their field and I hope that the board moves forward with the designers' vision for our school.”

β€œThree snow days this week - just a ridiculous waste of snow days. Today, the kids should have gone to school, bottom line. Why do they keep doing this? We had another useless-unnecessary snow day in December. Don't get it at all. Why can Parkway, Webster Groves, Clayton have school more consistently & Rockwood just continue to cancel? I know they talk about adding days at the end of the year -- those will no doubt be days spent β€œwatching movies,” like always at the end of the year.”

β€œAs a new mom, I appreciate all of these great ideas! This is the first winter with my son, Jack (8 months), but we have enjoyed sledding down the hill in our front yard, walking around the Missouri Botanical Garden, and making last minute trips to Whole Foods (infants find the simplest things amusing) on snowy days. We have even found swimming at The Heights is a nice treat – nothing beats watching the snow fall while swimming in a pool!”

β€œWorrying never ends, unfortunately, but as the parent we have to learn when to hold on tight and when to give our children the space they need to grow up. I have to admit at times I wish I could lock my daughter in her room and protect her from all the scary possibilities out there but know I have to allow my child to experience, learn and grow. It’s finding the balance that works which can be the most difficult thing to do.”

Β

β€œI'm sure it is tough for the districts to figure out the best way to use social media and there will be negative things that happen, but I'm glad they are at least trying it. Now if they would take the time to teach kids about using social networking responsibly and about cyber-bullying, being a safe online shopper, etc.”

β€œLeanne Delosky was my daughter's second grade teacher. She did an awesome job; making math fun, teaching students to be citizens and enjoying school all around!”

β€œMr. Ruesing has been a lifesaver to our family with our computer issues. Thanks again for fixing our stuff, and he is very reasonable on his pricing... go home Geek Squad!!!”
