Roland is 11 with stage 4 cancer

Roland's journey with cancer

#TeamRoland

This is Roland's story:

On Friday May 13 2016 my son was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer. A few days later they told us he had undifferentiated carcinoma of the thymus. He is the 7th known case of this particular cancer worldwide, so everything they do is an experiment.

His entire left lung was covered by a tumor.

He immediately had surgery. In his first operation they removed a good amount of his tumor, they cracked open his ribs on his left side to get what they could. We did chemo next. My son has done 970 hours of chemotherapy. They then went back in to get remaining tumor which had wrapped around the lining of his heart. So they removed part of his left lung and the lining around his heart. He then did radiation and on Dec 31st 2016 they released him and said he was cancer free. They told us that the surgeries and the chemo should have bought my son 5-10 years but unfortunately his cancer returned in August of this year.

On his first day of school they called and said they saw a mass on his heart. Later found out he has 7 tumors and it spread to his kidney and was blocked his trachea his wind pipe.

So they cut my son open again. 2 more times to get as much as they could. But the one blocking his trachea they can't do nothing about and the one on his kidney they couldn't get either unless they removed his kidney. They told us in August he had less than 3 months. This Wednesday will make 3 months
