The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center received the 2013 Achievement in Bioscience at the Arcus Awards, at the Regional Chamber’s inaugural event held on November 26, 2013. Dr. Toni Kutchan, Vice President for Research and the Oliver M. Langenberg Distinguished Investigator, accepted the award on behalf of the Center. The Danforth Center was one of seven finalists for the Achievement in Bioscience award.
The St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Arcus Awards celebrate organizations of all sizes from throughout the St. Louis region for their efforts to make the St. Louis region a more attractive place to live, work and invest.

“The Danforth Center is dedicated to the economic prosperity of St. Louis and is impacting the region’s innovation ecosystem by making new investments in technologies and facilities that accelerate discovery and will bring innovations to market faster, helping to form new companies, creating jobs and a strong economy for future generations,” said Kutchan.
Focusing on the region’s strengths and future strategies, Arcus Awards were presented in six other categories including, Achievement in Financial & Information Services, Achievement in Health Science & Services, Achievement in Multimodal Logistics and Advanced Manufacturing, Achievement in Economic Inclusion, Achievement in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Achievement in Educational Attainment.

“The St. Louis Regional Chamber is a broad community of leaders united for economic prosperity throughout the bi-state St. Louis region. We exist to inspire a greater St. Louis. And that’s what we wanted to celebrate tonight – the companies and organizations who are inspiring others and innovating the way for the region,” said Joe Reagan, president and CEO, St. Louis Regional Chamber. “We were inspired by the hundreds of nominations we received. By showcasing the finalists and winners tonight, we hope to continue the great momentum they’ve begun in our community.”
Other Arcus Award winners include, Reinsurance Group of America, Behavioral Health Response, Bethesda Health Group, Bunzl Distribution Inc., Challenge Unlimited Inc., and The Mission Center.
