This Week's Great Escape

Take your girlfriends out for a free night of "Girl Power."

You don’t have to be into the Lilith Fair to appreciate music written and performed by women. As Women’s History Month draws to a close, this Friday night the St. Louis Art Museum presents β€œGirl Power,” a free concert of chamber music written by women and performed by women.

Ladies, this is a great chance to enjoy a free night out with your girlfriends. This isn’t stuffy, old chamber music written by dead guys in powdered wigs. All the composers are still alive and writing music today. These women are inspired by everything from the sounds of sirens in the background hum of traffic to the ringing of cellphones. You say you hate everything on the radio these days? This concert is a great chance to hear something a bit different.Β Best of all, it’s free.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. If you only visit Forest Park when taking your kids to the zoo, this is a great chance to enjoy some grown-up time with your girlfriends at the St. Louis Art Museum.
