Whitfield Graduates Class of 2011
Graduating class "knows how to get things done," said class president.
head of school Mark Anderson presided over his last Whitfield graduation Wednesday. He's leaving to be head of school at the Sanford School, in Maryland, while 75 Whitfield seniors are moving on to places like Purdue, Vanderbilt, Texas Christian University, DePauw, Webster and Missouri University.
Senior class president Reybren Conte' Fitch told of a time several years ago when they played the system to get unlimited soda on a field trip. He said that small prank was an example of this group's ability to accomplish what they put their minds to, like winning state championships in sports, which came later. Two words that describe the class of 2011 are "dedicated" and "responsible," he said.
The Chairman's Award went to Nancy and Randy Green. Jerry and Susan Ullman were given the Louis Lazarus Award. Alisse Camazinne and Mark Ellebrecht received theΒ Mary Leyhe Burke Award, and Flip Cady received the Elizabeth Woods Bradbury '63 Outstanding Alumni Award.

Donald Danforth III, founder and president of City Academy, told the graduates to find their passion, and to be their own best self. He talked about starting out in the corporate world, the world of generations of Danforths before him, and how he came to be an educator and launch City Academy.
Mark Anderson, principal Ruth Greathouse and chairman of the Whitfield board of trustees, Mary Howe, awarded the dipomas.
