This article touches on complicated scenarios of women passing as something they are not. As a psychotherapist, I view most things through a psychological lens. Therefore, when women share stories of religion, race, class, gender or familial passing I understand what fuels their behavior. When we feel that others will berate, reject or humiliate us passing as someone we are not becomes a viable option. Consequences for women who pass, may become feelings of anger, anxiety, depression and isolation. These feelings usually spill into all areas of our lives causing emotional distress.
It is never too late to genuinely be who you want to be.
