Longer days and warmer weather mean it’s a great time to get outside and see what’s happening around Eureka-Wildwood. Throughout the season, local markets, festivals and community events offer plenty of opportunities to explore, connect and enjoy the best of spring.

1. Downtown Wildwood Farmers Market

When: Saturdays beginning May 23 from 8 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

More than 75 vendors will be on hand each weekend at the farmers market, bringing a variety of goods. From flowers to honey, produce to pickles shoppers can find almost anything they need, including craft beer and wine. In addition to food artisans will be selling crafts, soaps and jewelry.

2. Music on Main
When: Third Friday of the month from 6:45 - 9:15 p.m.
Where: Wildwood Village Green, 16860 Main St., Wildwood
Grab a blanket or lawn chair and head to Wildwood’s new Village Green for an evening of music, food and fun. Pack a picnic or purchase food that will be available on site. You can dance if you want or just chill out to the sounds of local bands.

3. Take a Day Hike
When: Daily, 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Where: Myron & Sonya Glassberg Family Conservation Area, located off State Highway FF, west of Highway 109
A short drive from Eureka, this new conservation area offers a 3-mile loop hike with a scenic overlook of the Meramec River. Enjoy a chill day hike and explore nature. It's a great chance to do some bird watching or nature photography.

4. Rodeo at the Riverbend
When: June 5 - 6, 6 - 11 p.m.
Where: Brookdale Farms, 8004 Twin River Road, Eureka
Enjoy an exhilarating night of professional rodeo action along with fun activities for the kids. There will be inflatables for the kids, games, a mechanical bull ride, a petting zoo, food and live music.

5. Green Rock Trail Challenge
When: June 6, 7:30 a.m.
Where: Greensfielder County Park, 4312-4326 Allenton Road
This is the city of Wildwood’s annual trail event, taking place on National Trails Day. The race starts and ends at Greensfelder County Park. This is a hike, more intense than a casual walk, so folks should be prepared.

6. Saint Louis Science Center - The Blue Whale Story
When: Opening May 23
Where: Saint Louis Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave, St. Louis
Kids and parents alike are sure to enjoy this exhibition, which will feature life-sized displays of Earth’s largest creature, the blue whale. Learn more about the whales and why protecting them is important. Kids can learn what a whale call sounds like, observe a life-sized skeleton of a whale, play a survival game and more.
