Eureka Girls' Lacrosse Team Finishes Third In State
Eureka Girls' Lacrosse caps off phenomenal season and became first public school to ever be one of top three teams in Missouri.

What a great season for Eureka High School Girls' LAX!
Not only did they have the leading scorer in the St. Louis area—Melissa Menchella—leading the way, their regular season ended with a record of 12-5, being given the sixth seed at the end of the year in preparation for the state tournament.
Their play on the field was consistent and continually improved throughout the season. Of the four of the five games where they came up on the short end, their losses were only by 1 or 2 goals. The other loss they had during regular season play was to Nerinx, who were the defending state champions.

The girls have so much to be proud of, as not many people outside of Eureka thought they were capable of much at the beginning of the season. This team expected excellence all season long, and always put their best foot forward individually to pull the best out of each other. They are not just teammates, but family. They accomplished something great this season and earned a very respectable honor.
Their final record was 15-6. Many of these kids earned all conference honors (listed below), and Melissa Menchella also was named to the All-State team. Melissa was incredibly deserving of the recognition, as she was the area’s leading scorer with 96 goals, as well as the leader in total points with 116.
They defeated St. Joseph 8-7 in the third place game, with a last minute goal by Menchella (scored 5 in the game) with 1:20 left in the game to take the lead.
ALL CONFERENCE RECOGNITION:
