Knights of Columbus District 44 Installed

Local Knights of Columbus members build a better world one council and one activity at a time.

On July 10, I attended the joint installation of the officers of the five councils in Missouri District 44.

The installation was handled by District Deputy Joe Moses, Bob Hook, the State Chaplain and insurance representative Brian Knight. After opening prayers, the Ladies Auxiliary officers were introduced and also installed for the year.

The five councils in District 44 are located in Eureka, Pacific, House Springs, Fenton and High Ridge. I joined the Father Edward Berry Council 1335 in Pacific in 1944, then transferred to Sacred Heart Council 3511 here in Eureka when it was formed after the growth of Sacred Heart. So I celebrate my 67th year as a Knight this year.

The installation was done very well as the district deputy outlined the duties of each of the many officers, and got a positive response from each as he presented them to those who attended. The representative from the Supreme Council drew applause as he reported on the results of the Order's annual survey of Fraternal Activity Charitable giving for the last year.

Knights gave 70,049,433 hours of service in the period. Cumulative figures show that Knights have donated more than $1.4 billion to charity and provided more than 633 million hours of service over the past decade.

Following the installation, all enjoyed a delicious lunch of pulled pork with all its trimmings, provided by the great cooks of Sacred Heart Council, which will hold its August meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at .

In building a better world, one council at a time, Knights work across the globe with Unity, Charity, Fraternity and Patriotism as a theme. We have good groups active in our area.
