St Albans Drug Take Back Event Collects 59 lbs of Meds

St Albans Drug Take Back Event collects 59 lbs of over-the-counter and prescription meds from local residents.

Boles Fire Protection District hosted a Drug Take Back event at the St. Albans Fire House on Saturday, April 27th. The event was a huge success and we would like to thank the residents of St. Albans for their participation. We collected 59 lbs of over-the-counter and prescription drugs! The event was co-hosted by Missouri Stream Team #4091, Foundations for Franklin County, Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and the Missouri Rural Water Association.

Events like this help to raise awareness ensuring the safety of our families and the quality of our water.

 - One in five teens has tried prescription drugs to get high. The most popular source of these dangerous drugs is the household medicine cabinet.

-Pharmaceutical drugs flushed down the toilet and poured down the drain are contaminating our drinking water! The only way to keep these harmful drugs out of our water is to dispose of them properly. The DEA sponsors on-going area Drug Take Back events and maintains drop boxes at several post offices and police stations in Franklin County.

- It is important to take action before public water suppliers are required to treat water for the removal of these medicines resulting in additional cost to us.
