Broadway Junior Production Shows Friday
Looking for a local, full show production to go see Friday? Honk, Jr. plays at 11:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. at Eureka High School. It will be performed by 21 local students.
Different is just 'different' is one of several messages that will be portrayed in a full Broadway Junior production Friday by 21 students completing the Eureka Arts Council Showbiz camp. The public is invited to two productions: one at 11:30 a.m. and the other at 7 p.m.
The musical, Honk, Jr., will be performed in the Dorothy Williams Theatre at . A dozen high school students, who are interested in drama, are assisting.
Production and camp director Susanne Allmendinger said that the show is about diversity and acceptance. "It also has great messages about what families are, no matter the origins."

Allmendinger, who is a language arts and drama instructor at Eureka High during the school year, said in additional to learning music and dance, camp participants learn how a show goes together. "We put a complete show together in only three weeks, including casting, the set and costumes, so the students get that sense of pride that comes from putting on a full scale production," she said.
She said she also hopes campers develop a love for theater.

About 25 songs are part of the production.
Adult tickets are $3 each and students ages 6 to 17 years are $1 each. Doors open at 11:20 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. for seating.
