Eureka High Concert Choir Wins Prestigious Award
Local concert choir members scored highest among 50-plus Cruise Festivals groups earlier this year to nab the overall title.
Eureka High School Concert Choir won the 2011 Cruise Festival Overall Grand Championship Award for Concert Choir Class AAA. This award signifies the highest score overall in this category from all of the 2011 Cruise Festivals' participants.
During the spring of 2011, the Eureka Concert Choir, under the direction of Donna Baker, participated in the March 18 Bahamas Cruise Festival onboard Royal Caribbean's “Majesty of the Seas."
In addition to earning a superior rating in March, choir members also were entered into an adjudicated competition against other ensembles that participated in one of more than 50 other Cruise Festivals, which took place from January to the beginning of July.

After the conclusion of the final festival, all scores were combined to determine the overall highest scoring groups in each class and category from all of the Festivals—which was 's choir.
Cruise Festivals is a program offered by Pennsylvania-based Music Tours Unlimited, a student music competition company.
