How Long Does It Take to Hunt 12,000 Eggs?
Picture-perfect spring weather brought lots of families out for an annual Wildwood event on Saturday.
The 10th annual Wildwood Easter Egg Hunt was held this year at in . The fenced-in site was a perfect location, because it also had a playground for kids. Wildwood city staffers scattered 12,000 colorful eggs for the event, which were snatched up in no time at all.
"This is one of our most popular events," said Gary Crews, Wildwood's superintendent of parks and recreation. "Last year, over 1,800 people attended. This is the best weather we've had for this event."
Patch couldn't get an accurate head count, but we noticed the school's huge parking lot was filled to capacity, and people were parking on surrounding streets.

The family-friendly event was absolutely awash with cuteness. It was really a tough choice to pick who to photograph, because all of the youngsters were dressed in bright spring colors and Easter duds. There should definitely be a basket contest next year, because Patch noticed a lot of creative ones, including a basket that looked like a coiled green snake and another one that looked like a Cardinal's baseball.
The event offered children's games, art activities, a helmet-fitting booth courtesy of St. Louis Children's Hospital, free food from the store, a deejay, clowns with balloon animals and more.
