Lafayette High Administrator Moves to Individualized Learning Center

Matthew Dieckhaus was named the coordinator of the , an alternative high school program based in within the . He replaces principal , who recently resigned.

Since 2004, Dieckhaus served as an assistant principal at in . Prior to Rockwood, Dieckhaus was a teacher at Clayton High School where he taught engineering classes. In addition, he has 14 years of experience leading summer school programs in both the Rockwood and Clayton School Districts. 

Dieckhaus earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from Missouri State University. He also holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, according to Rockwood sources.

The center provides Rockwood students an opportunity to succeed in a non-traditional high school setting. Since its inception in 1997, the school has helped more than 200 students complete the requirements needed to obtain a high school diploma.

The center was designed specifically to meet the needs of at-risk students from 's other four high schools.
