Lead tours at the Endangered Wolf Center

Volunteers interested in leading tours can now enroll for Naturalist & Docent Training courses that start April 11.

The Endangered Wolf Center is about to offer a great opportunity to anyone who is interested in leading nature tours.

The Center will soon begin its annual Naturalist Training course, and volunteers who take that course and two Docent Training classes are then eligible to lead tours on which visitors can see endangered Mexican wolves, red wolves, maned wolves, African painted dogs and swift foxes.

Naturalist Training begins Saturday, April 11, and will be held weekly for six weeks, ending with a half-day class May 16. Classes are from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Docent Training will be May 16 and May 23. Naturalist Training must be completed before taking Docent Training. The training courses are free but participants must provide their own flash drive so course materials can be loaded unto them.

Volunteer opportunities at the Center are by no means limited to leading tours. Volunteers are needed for a wide range of activities, including helping with educational outreaches, assisting with our wolf howl programs, maintenance of the Center’s buildings and grounds, and office work. Volunteers also help out with the Center’s major fundraising events, including Wolf Fest, the annual open house in the fall.
