Memorial for William Gedney, M.D.
Visitation for this Wildwood resident will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Rd. at Holloway in Ballwin until the funeral service there at 1 p.m.

William Burton Gedney, M.D., age 79, died Sept. 3, 2011. He was a Wildwood resident.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Davis Gedney (nee Malick); their children William Burton (Leslie) Gedney, Jr. of O'Fallon, IL; Rebecca Suzanne Gedney of Eureka; James Wesley (Lindsay) Gedney of Basehor, KS; and Louisa Irene (Bruce) Rosenmiller of California, MO. He was the grandfather of Lauren, Bryce, Caden and Drew; uncle of Tricia Lynn Gedney (Dave) Young and Richard Gedney and cousin of Kevin Gedney.
He was born at home in Overland, MO, Oct. 23, 1931, to Irene Rosetta Scheffing and James Burton Gedney. He attended Kirkwood High School, McKendree University in Lebanon, IL, and then went to St. Louis University School of Medicine, graduating in 1958. He continued his education as an intern and resident at St. John's Mercy Hospital, then two years at Washington University as a fellow in the Renal Division.
He was affiliated with St. John's Mercy Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood where he was chief of the medical staff and chief of internal medicine for five years. He was in private practice for 40 years in Valley Park, MO, before retiring in 1998 to Gedney Farms in Wildwood from where he raised American Red Poll and Gelbvieh cattle since 1969.
He was a commissioned officer as Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963-1969, and a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, Missouri Medical Society, American College of Physicians and American Medical Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Rosetta Scheffing and James Burton Gedney, his brother Richard Walter Gedney and one son Corbin Michael Gedney.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Rd. at Holloway in Ballwin until the funeral service there at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in the Forever Oak Hill Cemetery.
