New Wildwood City Council Member Appointed

A Wildwood city council seat vacated by Aaron Luter was filled at Monday night's council meeting with a long-time Wildwood resident and avid photographer.

Wildwood's newest city council member is a 24-year resident of the city, Jack Clark. He was appointed by Mayor Tim Woerther to fill a vacancy for Ward 4 and ratified by council members at Monday's city council meeting.

Clark replaces Wildwood city council member from the council due to new job-related travel and scheduling conflicts that prevented him from attending city council meetings.

Luter was elected in April 2010; his two-year term was to expire in April 2012.
Clark will serve on the council from now until April, unless he decides to run officially in that election.

During the portion of the meeting prior to instating Clark, council member David Geile, Ward 1, asked him if he was going run for election in the spring. "I haven't decided. I thought this was a good way to try it on," Clark said.

Clark and all other candidates have until Jan. 17 to submit their forms for participating in the election.

Until Clark recently retired, he said he operated a sign and graphic company. One of his biggest hobbies is photography. He said he has a collection of shots associated with Old Manchester and Route 66 areas.

What he said he likes best about are the hills and trees, and "the rural effect." But he acknowledges that the municipality has changed a lot in the last two decades.

He also now plans to spend more time devoted to Wings of Hope, a nonprofit humanitarian organization headquartered out of Chesterfield.

At Monday's city council meeting, three other residents were reappointed to city service:  G. Lynne Marshall, Ward 6, and Russ Rosener, Ward 1, to the Historic Preservation Committee, and Ray Manton, Ward 2, to the Board of Adjustment Committee.
