Planning & Zoning Commissioner Reappointed

R. Jon Bopp will serve Wildwood for another four years after being appointed at Monday's city council meeting. See why he wanted to continue contributing to the municipality's planning.

R. Jon Bopp volunteered for another four years with Wildwood's Planning & Zoning Commission. He was unanimously voted in by city council members Monday evening.

By day, Bopp owns a private law firm, located at 15057 Manchester Rd., focusing on domestic and criminal legal matters. He also serves as president of the Queeny Park Equestrian Events, a nonprofit organization established in 1980-1981. Liking horses and dogs, he pursues outdoor activities as often as possible.

He attended Westminster College, and is a retired brigadier general of the U.S. Army, as well as a Vietnam veteran.

Bopp chaired Wildwood's P&Z for the last two years. Its commissioners consider requests for rezoning, subdivision, and development of properties under the requirements of the city's codes and regulations.

"Being that Wildwood is a newer community, many of the projects coming from its planning department are challenging, which gives P&Z commissioners opportunities to evaluate and consider interesting proposals," he said.

Bopp said he enjoys analyzing projects so that the group can make recommendations to city council members regarding "what they believe to be in the best interests of the city, its residents, its institutions, the businesses and future businesses."

"We're looking forward to changing economic times, during which significantly more proposals will come for the development of Wildwood," he said.
