Saint Louis Bread Co. Thinks Pink On Saturday

Free, pink ribbon bagels will be available to Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure participants Saturday only at the Eureka and Wildwood bakery-cafes. Proceeds from pink bagel sales will benefit the cause.

After a decade together, Saint Louis Bread Co. and Susan B. Komen for the Cure employees have a stronger partnership than ever. The and Bread Co. staffs said they will be ready with free, pink bagels bright and early on Saturday morning in honor of the annual, cancer-related race, which will occur downtown.

β€œThis is a local marketing event for all 47 of the bakery-cafΓ©s in the St. Louis area,” said Kelly Nicholson, local marketing manager. β€œWe made 6,000 Pink Ribbon Bagels last year, and this year we have expanded to 9,000 bagels (for the St. Louis area). Last year we ran out pretty early.”

Any race participant, or anyone who can show proof of association with Saturday’s race, will receive a complimentary bagel that day. This specialty bagel consists of dried cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla honey and brown sugar. One hundred percent of the proceeds of those who would like to purchase the bagel will be donated to the Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure.

Those who miss out on Saturday’s event will get another shot to try the bagels when they make a comeback in October for breast cancer awareness month.

β€œIn October we are celebrating our 10th Pink Ribbon anniversary, which will be a nationwide program,” Nicholson said. β€œKomen is a great organization to support through the Pink Ribbon Bagelβ€”it’s kind of a yearlong partnership."
