Team Henges Trapshooting Club Takes Multiple Honors in 1st Three Competitions of 2014 Season
May 27, 2014 - Team Henges Trapshooting Club recently took first place in the High School Open Division at the Paul Larsen Memorial High School Trap Championship and 3rd place in the Junior High Open Division. Additionally, five Henges shooters took individual awards as the team competed against nearly 900 other shooters from all over the state who converged on Linn Creek, MO for the competition on May 3.
Team Henges High School Squad took the 1st Place award with a score of 485/500. That squad included Jack Koury, 17 of Manchester; Cecilia Young, 16 of House Spring; Anthony Simon, 17 of Ballwin; Abbey Stoner, 15 of Webster Groves; and Nick Koury, 17 of Manchester.

Team Henges Junior High Squad took 3rd place with a score of 457/500. That squad included Amelia Heath, 12 of St. Louis; Jack Simon, 14 of Ballwin; Ben Young, 14 of House Springs; Garrett Kelling, 14 of Ballwin; and Nathan Stoner, 13 of Webster Groves.

Individual awards at the state competition included:
· Jack Koury, High Overall 2nd place and a perfect 100 out of 100 targets.
· Abbey Stoner, Ladies 3rd place, 96/100
· Max Weiser, Sophomore Division 3rd place, 98/100
· Nick Koury, Junior Class Division 1st place, 99/100
· Anthony Simon, Junior Class Division 3rd place, 99/100
The competitive season for Team Henges began earlier with a regional Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) tournament in Sparta, IL. The club took four trophies and three individual awards at that competition. This regional competition included teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kansas, Iowa and Indiana and it included trap, skeet and sporting clays. Henges took more trophies in the trap competition than any of the other teams and was the largest team at the event with 34 shooters.
Awards included:
1st Place, Intermediate Division, 452/500. Squad included John Appelbaum, 14 of Webster Groves; Jack Simon, 14 of Ballwin; Ben Young, 14 of House Springs; Garrett Kelling, 14 of Ballwin; and Nathan Stoner, 13 of Webster Groves.
2nd Place, Varsity Division, 456/500. Squad included Jack Koury, 17 of Manchester; Cecilia Young, 16 of House Springs; Anthony Simon, 17 of Ballwin; Adam Thomas, 18 of St. Louis and Nick Koury, 17 of Manchester.
3rd Place, Varsity Division, 448/500. Squad included Jack Lowrey, 16 of Ballwin; Evan Wright, 16 of St. Louis; Kyle Lazarski, 16 of St. Louis; Paul Lochner, 18 of St. Louis; and Max Weiser, 15 of Town and Country.
2nd Place, Jr. Varsity Division, 443/500. Squad included Matt Book, 15 of St. Louis; Doug Williams, 14 of Wildwood; Josh Taylor, 15 of Wildwood; Abbey Stoner, 15 of Webster Groves and Brad Cox, 15 of Wildwood
Additionally, Team Henges continued the 2014 season at the Spring Break’em competition at Gateway Gun Club in Bridgeton, MO on April 12.
Individual Awards:
· Ben Young, 1st Place, Intermediate Division, 96/100
· Abbey Young, 1st Place, Ladies 96/100 (Abbey also took 2nd place overall in the JV Division, but was limited to one award medal).
· Jack Koury, 2nd Place, Men, Varsity Division 95/100
And on April 19, Henges went onto the Spring Break’em competition at St. Louis Skeet and Trap Club in Pacific, with another four individual awards, including;
· Jack Koury, 3rd Place High Overall
· Cecilia Young, High Lady award
· Abbey Stoner, 2nd Place Lady
· Nathan Stoner, 3rd Place Jr. High
Team Henges is comprised of youth from all over the St. Louis area and represents the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Jay Henges Shooting Range. Team Henges is a competitive youth trapshooting team established in 2007, and based at the Department of Conservation Jay Henges Shooting Range in High Ridge, MO. The team consists of 34 boys and girls, ranging in age from 9 to 18. Head Coach Mr. Jan Morris and six assistant coaches lead the team.
