Vantage Credit Union Closes in Eureka

The Vantage Credit Union logo is gone from its prior building at 1467 Fifth Street in Eureka.

No more time and temperature will come from the marquee sign in Eureka, nor services inside. The location closed during the past week at 1467 Fifth St.

In early 2009, Spirit of St. Louis Credit Union merged with Vantage Credit Union, and added the Eureka and Des Peres branches, making their location total 16 in the St. Louis area. The Des Peres branch officially closed on Feb. 12, 2011, due to four factors referenced on the credit union's website as:

  • operational challenges based on its physical location in a strip mall
  • restrictive legislation
  • slow recovery of the national economy
  • light patronage

A sign on the credit union's previous door in Eureka encouraged patrons to use two other Vantage locations:

West County
16260 Truman Rd., 10 miles north/east via Missouri Route 109 and Manchester Road

Sunset Hills
3860 South Lindbergh, 17 miles east via Interstate 44 and Lindbergh Blvd.

The sign also indicated free Co-Op Network ATMs were available at the First Community Credit Union inside the in Eureka and High Ridge.

Vantage was known for conducting certain seasonal community programs. They last held a membership appreciation day for Eureka patrons on March 25, 2011.Β
