Verizon Wireless Closes in Eureka

The telecommunications wireless company with the "stay connected" marketing approach will no longer connect with Eureka residents at a local retail space.

"Yes, I can hear you now," was the recent advertising theme for Verizon Wireless. But when one calls the phone number in , three other area business alternatives are offered because the number assigned to Verizon Wireless is no longer in service.

Neither is the Verizon Wireless store location at 1741 West Fifth St., which apparently closed abruptly and quietly sometime in the past two weeks.

Ironically in a Jan. 12, 2011, Eureka-Wildwood Patch article, the Verizon store team in Eureka had exceeded its 2010 projected sales numbers. Chris Ellis, Verizon Wireless store supervisor said (at that time), β€œThe slow economy has not affected our business. We actually exceeded our sales goals."
