Wildwood Farmers' Market Launches
The Wildwood Farmers' Market kicks off the summer season with a successful first day on Saturday, even though the threat of rain relocated the event.
Many people were up and out at 8 a.m. on Saturday to help kick off the third annual Wildwood Farmers' Market. Last year, approximately 17 vendors were on-site. This year, organizers said customers can expect to see a few more; some every week, others will be occasional vendors, meaning usually every other week or once a month.
Due to the threat of rain, this first market day was held in the Wildwood city garage located in the Wildwood Town Center near . "It is so convenient, easy to park, and has a nice selection of vendors. I picked up some great produce, and a really pretty pair of earrings," said Wildwood resident Christina Gibson.
Glenn Gaehle, market manager for this summer-long event, said the market had a great first day. "We had a ton of traffic in the early morning, and it began to slow down just past noon."

He also mentioned this year's overall rainy weather definitely had a negative impact on the produce this season, as there were no strawberries at this weekend's opening day—but there was still plenty of really fresh items from which to choose.
Vendors at Saturday's market included: Clancy's Market Place, Sweet Anny's Soaps, Chiropractic of Wildwood, Miller's Organics, Pure Elegance, Kim's Kitchen and Catering, God's Gifts, 212 Degrees of Wellness, Sunny Creek Farm, PM BBQ, Silpada, StriderMonkeys, Little Dipper Chocolate, Osage Ridge Farms, and Crafty Creations.

A different set of musicians also will perform each week.
The Wildwood Farmers' Market is held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Saturday this summer through mid-October. When there is no rain in the forecast, the market will be located outside at Fountain and Plaza Drive. Gaehle said they will try to make a decision on the event's location each week, either outside or under the garage, by Thursday, depending on weather forecasts. A change in location will be listed on the city's website, and signage will be erected at the outside location to direct customers to the garage. He said they also may hold the market inside the garage when the heat becomes harder to bear to July. For more information on vendors, news, and updates, visit the Wildwood Farmers' Market website.
Sporting a huge smile, Gaehle said, "I know it's a good first day when many of my vendors have run out of most of what they brought. I just want to see this event get bigger and bigger."
