Wildwood Farmers' Market Open Rain or Shine

Glenn Gaehle, Wildwood's Farmers' Market manager, reminds residents this year's new farmers' market hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There's one traditional, crowd-dampening factor that vendors did not have to deal with so far this summer:  rain.

The city's Farmers' Market is doing about the same as last year regarding attendance, said Joe Vujnich, director of planning and parks.

This Saturday's entertainment will be live music by Dan and Haylee Capstick from .

About mid-way through the farmers' market season, which goes until Sept. 29, Wildwood manager said vendors are offering fresh tomatoes, zucchini, squash, watermelon, blueberries, peaches, green beans, onions, eggplant, cucumbers, honey and baked goods.

The market averages about 15 vendors each week, Vujnich said.

He said the heat has not affected attendance as much as might be expected. "Many of the vendors are selling out long before the 12:30 p.m. closing time."

Of course, the biggest feedback is that "everyone would like to see more local farmers" at the market, Vujnich said.
