GATEWAY CHAPTER IPMS DONATES $400 TO TOYS FOR TOTS
St. Louis, Missouri – The Gateway Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers’ Society (IPMS) donated $400 today to the United States Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) Toys for Tots campaign in the Metropolitan St. Louis area. Gateway Chapter IPMS members presented the donation to the USMCR at the Toys for Tots benefit event held today by radio station KYKY (Y98; 98.1 FM) at the Gravois Bluffs Shopping Center, located on Highway 141 near Gravois Road (U.S. 30) in Fenton, Missouri.
The money was raised though several projects. One project was a raffle of model kits held at the IPMS Gateway to the West Invitational model contest and swap meet in Eureka, Missouri on September 8, 2012. Funds were also raised at club meetings through a silent auction of model kits that were donated to Gateway Chapter IPMS, and through 50/50 raffles held at several club meetings, in which half the proceeds went to Toys for Tots and the other half went to the raffle winner.
Gateway Chapter IPMS is a club devoted to the hobby of scale modeling and is open to all persons interested in this hobby. The club meets on the third Tuesday night of each month, with the next meeting on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are held at Lewis Fellowship Hall of Calvary Presbyterian Church, located at 3400 Lemay Ferry Road in Mehlville, Missouri (south St. Louis County).
