I have been a registered nurse for the past 30 years. I have probably taken care of many of my Jefferson County neighbors. I always said that it was an honor to be able to care for others and hoped when I got old I would have someone that would be willing to be my caregiver. In March I left my position at St Agnes Home in Kirkwood. I had been there for over four years as the Director of Nursing. I loved the residents that became my family and the staff that gave so much of themselves. It was truly an honor to be there everyday. Unfortunately I did not leave because I wanted to. I left because I am Baptist and the Sister who manages the home wanted a Catholic manager. So, I guess I am now retired from my life long profession. I am heartbroken but the memories of those I cared for will always be with me.
