Jefferson County Council Saves Taxpayers $1.9M

Monday night, the County Council passed Bill 12-0448, a bill that refinances capital improvement debt. This refinancing will save the County $1.9 Million. That's a winner!

Monday night’s meeting sure was a blockbuster night for the county council.  We finally passed Bill 12-0448, a bill that refinances the debt that built several county buildings a few years ago.  This refinancing will save the county $1.9 million over the next 10 years.

Because we have been careful about budgeting and spending, the county has earned a very good financial rating.  This financial rating and with recent low interest rate offerings were leveraged to refinance our capital improvement debt.

Congratulations to the council, to the county cxecutive and the director of administration for working together to save taxpayer dollars by working smart AND working hard!
