Well Monday night was an interesting council meeting! Many people showed up to protest Bob Boyer's UDO changes based on Bill No. 12-0512, the only problem was, it was the wrong bill included in the agenda. Joke's on you! Now how do you think those people felt driving all that way only to be told that it was the wrong bill and the council would not address it? I counted the number of people who spoke out against the UDO changes, there were 5 out of 10. I would say to Boyer that the people do not want you messing around in their property affairs. It was clearly evident that the people are fully aware of the atrocities contained in this bill that Boyer tried to sell as legislation that would bring additional business into the county. That is so far from the truth as I pointed out in earlier blogs. It does not allow businesses or people more freedoms, it restricts and eliminates the property rights of the residents and costs more money. One question I have to ask: Doesn't anyone review the agenda before it's posted?
Next, did anyone notice there are three Council people (Kreitler, Lane and Waymon) who voted for Waller's ability to veto the regulation contained in Bill No. 12-0637 A-1 that mandates you produce paid tax receipts before being allowed to perform a job for the county or hold an office? You have to ask yourself, is this because they don't believe that they should be accountable to anyone including the residents of Jefferson County? Please note that Arnold has this ordinance and my thoughts are, as long as I have to show my paid receipt to get a license for my vehicle, I would think these three council members would feel it is a part of their responsiblities to help ensure that everyone in the county pays their fair share.
Finally, why didn't Boyer think it was important to let the rest of the council know about the format changes in the Journal? Same Boyer, different day! No one else matters except him. It's been that way from the date of his inception as the chair. Now you would think that the vice chair would step up when the chair is lacking in knowledge of the correct protocol. You would think, but that didn't happen either - does it surprise anyone that it didn't? At least everyone knows what to expect from Boyer and Waymon - Boyer doesn't care that there are 6 other council members and that he answers to the residents of Jefferson County and Waymon is lucky if he has time to read all the paperwork before the meeting. That's okay though, he's last in line for voting so he can just vote the way Boyer, Kreitler and Lane vote. As long as his votes NEVER coincide with Bickowski's, Reuter's and Groeteke's votes, he's good. If that happened, he would actually be voting in an ethical manner - oh the horror!
