Say Hey!

Our society is very technology, social networking, gotta be plugged into something focused right now yet we feel more disconnected than ever. What can you do?

People crave validation and they will find a way to get it so why not take a step that is positive. In counseling clients, I find many who state, among other things, that they are lonely. Self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, trauma all work against us from connecting with one another. What can we do? Say "Hey", "Hello", "Hi", "Yo", etc... Keep walking, attending to your mp3, phone, tablet, your mail, your child, your dog, but say "hello" or do the "cell phone/mp-3 nod" to acknowledge those you pass by. It is just a small way to connect with another human being but our lives are built on small things, small moments, validating experiences. You might make someone's day, you might make a difference.
