The Generosity Generation Changes the Way Businesses do
Business.

I am going to come clean. I had never heard of Michael J. Maher’s The Seven Levels of Communication before a few days ago. However, noticing many Hive44 members’ anticipation for Generosity Generation’s St. Louis event on July 18th at The Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel, I thought it would be appropriate if I read this cult-worthy book and did a little review on its lasting impression and how it relates to coworking in St.Louis. At Hive44 we take pride in being a pioneer of St. Louis Coworking and are aware the average person does not truly comprehend the benefits of sharing a workspace. This is a main reason I want to talk about this widely popular book that has become a must-read for anyone in the real-estate industry. This outstanding book hits on some of the major changes that are occurring in today’s flow of commerce and tells you how you can personally adapt your business and your own personality to the environment. Despite being intended for realtors, the lessons of the Generosity Generation are fundamental ideas that serve as the base for the concept of cooperative work space.
During this incredibly quick and even more rewarding read,
Michael J. Maher depicts the profound business evolution of real-estate agent
Rick Masters. The story truly begins when Rick finds a coach and progresses
Maher’s steps and ultimately proves that transforming yourself and your
business is completely possible if you believe that success can be achieved
when you foster deep, satisfying relationships. It is widely accepted that
commerce has entered a new era. Consumers are wise and experienced at ignoring the overwhelming amount of advertising marketers throw at them. As the ability to target worsens, it is the power of kinship with your consumers that fuels business. Maher points this out early in his story. He sets the goal that we
should attempt to be a “go-to person” in our community. The fact is humanity’s
most primal need is to connect with people, not companies and not brands. Thus
the go-to person’s most important service is not their business but actually
facilitating human connections whether or not these people can offer you any
direct business. This is the whole concept of the Generosity Generation and
Coworking! The goal of a customer relationship that gives and takes
(transaction) is now secondary to a giving that is fueled by intrinsic reasons
without intentions of immediate value (generosity). It is generosity that truly
enchants people and deepens relationships. And it is these deep relationships
that build you a strong network of referrals and promote your credibility and
trustworthiness. Similarly, by building a cooperative work community,
professionals can build powerful networks that extend far beyond the shared
space of coworkers.

Aside from transforming your business, the Generosity Generation guidelines dramatically impact how you act everyday of your personal life. Maher reminds us that if we rediscover the magic of getting to meet and understand another person, we will experience a more fulfilling existence. He emphasizes affirmation, urgency, and faith in our own strengths so that wooing others with confidence becomes second nature. Overall Maher’s story reveals that your personal success can be achieved when you live with a genuine enthusiasm towards helping people and sell your most important values without ever trying to make a sale. I pity any person who believes they have a grasp on the power of networking and does not have this book on a shelf of their
professional library.
I assume that after reading this riveting praise and adoration
that it will be impossible to resist reading the book yourself. Once you turn
the last page you will arrive at the exact same conclusions as I did and think,
“Wow! That is some empowering stuff. Wish I could hear more about this…” That’s when you remember that I told you about the Generosity Generation St. Louis events. There is a sold-out event on July18 but if you can somehow get your hands on a ticket, you should do exactly that. Otherwise keep an eye on future Generosity Generation events because these events have so much to offer. They promise you opportunities to meet and network with similar ambitious people who become valuable referral partners that can fuel your business. They reveal simple and effective strategies that can help you succeed at starting your own business. You probably will have questions about how to optimize your time
networking and where are the best places to meet new people, and they will
answer those questions too. Similar to how the book invigorates your enthusiasm
towards business and life, these events want you to achieve “a business that
not only feed your family, but also feeds your soul.”
