The Speech That Was

A great Caucus meeting today!

Today (Apr. 21) was a very good day in Hermann, MO.  The Santorum/Romney slate was voted in to go on to represent the 3rd District at the National Convention. We who stuck together and defended the Republican party were able to see a fair process play out. The interim caucus chair, vice chair, secretary, parliamentarian and seargent at arms held their ground and demanded respect during the meeting. There was no rowdiness allowed. Some delegates started to act like children as we've seen in the past and the caucus secretary stopped and demanded the respect that was due her, the rest of the delegates and the attendees to the meeting.

At one point, a Ron Paul supporter and a veteran stood up and yelled that he was "sick of all the crap" that the people of this country have had to endure from both parties. I have to admit he is correct about the crap we've been handed, but we are all being handed "the crap," not just Ron Paul supporters and we are all out there fighting for the very future of a country in which freedoms are quickly disappearing. We are all sitting in those rooms as delegates and alternates waiting for a chance to tell the country and our leaders that we are all sick of "the crap" that we've been handed.

As another older gentleman, who was also a veteran, put it, he "fought in the war so that the Ron Paul supporters could continue to have the freedom to voice their complaints."  I am proud to say I share the passion that both of these men have. I want to protect these freedoms so that the futures of my children offer them the same opportunities that I've had. I am proud of what we accomplished in that room today. With the help of great leadership, we were able to accomplish the business at hand and it was done with respect to all the participants and there were no fights, no police, no helicopters and no arrests.
