Emotional Changes Related to Dementia

Dementia is a difficult diagnosis to accept on many levels.Β  It is important to be aware of the emotional changes that may occur as the disease progresses.Β  Emotional changes vary from one person to another but these are the most common (source) :

Β·Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  The brain damage that occurs as a result of dementia can sometimes impact the way emotions are expressed.Β  Some people will stop expressing emotions while others will have strong emotional reactions that are not always socially acceptable.Β  Try to be patient with your senior loved one and remember that they are not in control of their emotional expressions.
