Jefferson College 50th Birthday Celebration

Jefferson College 50th Birthday - Community Invited to Join Celebration April 13


 


In recognition of 50 years of service to students and our community, Jefferson College will host a week-long celebration topped off with a community-wide birthday party on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Student Center lawn on the Hillsboro campus.

The free event is open to everyone and is designed to encompass alumni, college retirees, current students and employees, past and present members of the Board of Trustees and Foundation, community leaders, and college friends throughout the region.

“Since being established by the voters of this county 50 years ago, Jefferson College has become a fundamental part of life in Jefferson County,” said College President Dr. Raymond Cummiskey. “Our 50th birthday celebration provides the unique opportunity to look back and thank those who have been instrumental in the college’s past success and to look ahead to the next 50 years of service to our ever-changing community.”


 


The celebration will include over 25 booths with program demonstrations and displays; campus tours; inflatable activities and face painting for kids; entertainment by the Jefferson College Jazz Combo, DJ Russ Hilton, and the Spirit of St. Louis Barbershop Chorus; a live radio broadcast by KJFF/KTJJ from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; an historical timeline and Vikon yearbook display; the finale of the 50th anniversary scavenger hunt; a collection of items for a time capsule; and a Vikings baseball game.


 


Free birthday cake will be served and BBQ plate lunches will be sold for $5. 


 


Summer and fall class registration will also be available during the Registration Rally from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (bring photo ID and present Compass or ACT placement scores).
