Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' TOURING EDUCATION SHOW

ST. LOUIS -- The award-winning Touring Ensemble from Shakespeare Festival St. Louis offers several opportunities in March for families to see both 2012 touring productions in a single evening. β€œOthello in a Breath” is a stylish telling of β€œOthello” adapted from ShakespeareΚΌs tragic masterpiece by award-winning playwright Elizabeth Birkenmeier. Set in a stunningly visual, graphic novel world, five actors play 15 roles and bring alive ShakespeareΚΌs tale of love, jealously and betrayal. β€œCruel to be Kind,” written by Christopher Limber places Shakespeare in 1599, furiously writing β€œAs You LIke It.” Seeing the bullying behavior in his play reflected by his young apprentices, Will uses rehearsals to enlighten his young actors and helps them change their cruel ways. β€œCruel” was nominated for Outstanding Production for Young People” by the Kevin Kline Awards.

Performances are scheduled on Saturday, March 3 at The Emerson Performance Center at Harris Stowe State University, 3101 Laclede Ave., and Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 at Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 N. Union Blvd. Show times are 7 p.m. (β€œOthello in a Breath”) and 8:30 p.m. (β€œCruel to be Kind”) each performance night. A matinee performance of β€œCruel” will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 1 at Union Avenue Christian Church.
