Fenton Man Charged in Home Invasion, Shooting Incident
Homeowner shoots, injures man standing in his bedroom.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has issued several charges on Richard Bates, of Fenton, following a reported burglary incident Tuesday.
Sheriff Oliver “Glenn” Boyer said deputies were dispatched to an address on Creek Drive, in Fenton at 10 a.m. Tuesday. They encountered a 59-year-old victim who said he had awakened to find a man, later identified as Richard Bates, of Fenton, standing in the bedroom of his home. The victim told deputies he then pulled a handgun and filed at the man in his bedroom, who then fled.
A short time later a man arrived at , Fenton, suffering from a non life theatening gunshot wound to the leg. The Sheriff’s Office was advised and responded to the hospital. The man was treated and then released. Deputies then took the individual (Bates) into custody and transported him to the Jefferson County Jail.
