Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for Long-Awaited High Ridge Walmart

High Ridge Commons development groundbreaking set for Friday

High Ridge Commons, 36-acre development that will include a Walmart Super Center store, a 30,000-square-foot strip mall and an 80-lot single-family home subdivision will be officially kicked off Friday as THF Realty and a variety of Jefferson County officials participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking at the development site at High Ridge Boulevard and Highway 30.

Plans for High Ridge Commons have been in the works since 2004, but a number of lawsuits have stalled the project, according to a THF spokesperson. With zoning and traffic issues resolved by THF and a favorable vote by the Jefferson County Council, the High Ridge Commons project is ready to go.

Officials will gather at 9 a.m. Sept. 9 for the ceremonial groundbreaking, which is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
