Warren Robinson was recently appointed Jefferson County's new Emergency Management Director, according to a news release provided by Jefferson County Executive Ken Waller.

β€œWe're looking forward to working with Warren and feel that his addition to our public safety system will contribute to our goal of making Jefferson County a stronger community,” Waller said in the news release. β€œWe believe he has the experience necessary to successfully guide our emergency management agency and that he will help make Jefferson County's government a more transparent and responsive organization for the public it serves.”

The county's previous Emergency Management Director, Ed Kemp, died in November--a little more than a month before his planned retirement.

Robinson served as an emergency management specialist with the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management. His experience includes mitigation planning, exercise development and volunteer management, according to the release.

Robinson received a Master of Public Administration degree from Missouri State University and Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Spanish from Murray State University. He is an active member of the Region C Incident Support Team and the Southwest Missouri Incident Support Team, and has assisted in management of incidents including the 2011 Joplin EF-5 Tornado and Superstorm Sandy.
