Rockwood Summit Has Special Graduation Ceremony For One of its Own

Students and staff of the school turn out to provide a graduation ceremony for a student unable to attend regular commencement exercises.

Nearly 300 students, staff and parents showed their support for Paul Marler, a senior at , during a special graduation ceremony held in his honor May 25.Β  Marler was unable to attend Rockwood Summit’s Commencement Ceremony on May 23 due to a medical illness.Β 

The ceremony began with performances by the Rockwood Summit choir, orchestra and band.Β  Principal Renee Trotier then spoke about the character of the Class of 2012.Β 

β€œI’m in awe with the amount of support shown here today,” Trotier said with regard to the number of students in attendance.Β  β€œRockwood Summit prides itself on being a family and today is another example of this.” 

After Marler received his diploma from the Rockwood Board of Education, he made his way down a receiving line comprised of teachers and staff from his Rockwood career.Β  With a smile on his face, Marler commented on the ceremony’s turnout.Β

β€œIt’s a nice feeling to know so many people came to celebrate this milestone with me,” said Marler.Β  β€œIt means a lot.”
